67 years since club's third European Cup
On 28 May 1958, Real Madrid beat Milan 3-2 in the first final after extra time.

67 years ago, Real Madrid clinched their third European Cup at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels. Milan were the opponents in the first final of the competition that was decided in extra time. The match was a pulsating affair and the Italians twice took the lead, but goals from Di Stéfano and Rial took the game into extra time.
In extra time, Gento proved to be decisive and scored for the second year in a row in a European Cup final, as he made it 3-2 in the 107th minute. Juanito Alonso also played an important role, making crucial saves in the final minutes.
The road to the final
In the previous rounds, Carniglia’s side performed outstandingly well at home, where they did not concede a single goal and beat Royal Antwerp (6-0), Sevilla (8-0) and Vasas of Hungary (4-0). Against the latter team, Di Stéfano leapt up to celebrate one of his three goals and the photograph of that moment went down in Real Madrid history.
