51st anniversary of the 16th Basketball Cup win
On 25 May 1974, Real Madrid became champions after beating Joventut in the final.
It is 51 years since Real Madrid won our 16th Spanish Basketball Cup. On 25 May 1974, the Whites beat Joventut in a very close final in Alicante. The Catalan side took the first half, going into half-time with a two-point lead at (48-50). However, the players coached by Pedro Ferrándiz turned the game around in the second half and completed the comeback with an 87-85 win.
Brabender, with 20 points, Cristóbal and Rullán, both with 12, were the standout performers for the Madridistas. Our team won its fifth consecutive Cup to mark a perfect campaign in which it also won the European Cup and the League.
