On 18 April 1905, Real Madrid kicked off their Copa de Rey title-winning exploits. The Whites did so by beating Athletic Club 1-0 in the match that decided the trophy. That tournament was played in Madrid and was a three-team tournament with San Sebastián and Athletic Club, who arrived as the reigning champions. In the first match, the Whites beat the San Sebastian side 3-0.
In the following match against Athletic Club, Prast struck the goal that added Madrid's name to the competition's trophy cabinet for the first time. This triumph opened an era of Madrid's dominance in the Copa del Rey, as the club won four consecutive editions of the competition. 119 years later, Real Madrid have conquered this competition on 20 occasions.
