The Real Madrid Foundation has developed a socio-sports training course in Outurela, Portugal, for the technical teams of its consolidated project and to lay the foundations for the new socio-sports school in this neighbourhood of the municipality of Oeiras. The three-day programme was held at the Parque Desportivo Carlos Queiroz, a municipal sports complex with a football pitch and covered pavilion.

The activity brought together 11 technicians, including future coaches of the new socio-sports school in Outurela, professionals from the Alma Branca schools in Guimarães, coordinators of both projects and school support teachers linked to the future school. The structure of the programme combined theoretical and practical sessions with an extensive development of practical sessions in football and basketball.

A decade of collaboration
The five Alma Branca socio-sports schools in Guimarães, which are celebrating ten years of collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation this year, actively participated in the programme, sharing their experience, learning and journey during this decade of working together. This exchange was also a boost for the Guimarães project itself, which, based on this training, plans to expand its offer by incorporating basketball into its activities.

The programme represents the first step of the new socio-sports project in Outurela, a social relocation neighbourhood marked by its cultural diversity and the presence of families of migrant origin, especially from the Cape Verdean community. In this context, sport is seen as a space for education and coexistence that contributes to social inclusion and the integral development of boys and girls.

The coexistence between technicians from Guimarães and Outurela, together with coordinators and school support teachers, favoured a very positive exchange, reinforcing a common methodological line based on education in values, participation and the integral development of the beneficiaries, pillars of the Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sporting model.
