BMW Spain and the Real Madrid Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement that will ensure the sustainability of the basketball programme in hospitals, an initiative that is intended to contribute towards the wellbeing of patients and their medical teams with a playful approach. Using fun, educational materials, the programme supports hospitalised children and adults, promoting their emotional wellbeing and contributing to their mental recovery during their leisure time in hospital.
The main objective is to introduce basketball to hospitalised patients, incorporating it as a regular activity in their daily routine, while promoting values such as a sense of self-worth, motivation and personal improvement, which are fundamental for those facing delicate health situations.
Manuel Terroba, executive chairman of BMW Group Iberia, said: “We would like to collaborate with this programme, which benefits people's physical and emotional wellbeing. Ultimately, it improves their quality of life.” Meanwhile, Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid, explained: "The agreement is an example of collaboration between two large entities committed to a common goal: building a better world.”
