Official Announcement: Passing of Fernando Fernández-Tapias

Real Madrid C. F., its president and Board of Directors are deeply saddened by the passing of Fernando Fernández Tapias, vice-president of our club, and would like to express their condolences to his wife, Nuria González, his children Iván and Alma, and his family and loved ones.  
 
Fernando Fernández-Tapias was a Real Madrid member for 30 years, since 13 October 1993, and was part of all the Boards of Directors chaired by Florentino Pérez. He was vice-chairman of the Board of Directors from 17 July 2000 to 2 July 2006 and was vice-president of the club from 1 June 2009 to present.
 
He was a patron of the Real Madrid Foundation from 18 July 2000 to 2 July 2006 and from 4 November 2009 to the present, always showing his commitment to solidarity through our Foundation.
 
During Fernando Fernández-Tapias' time as a member of the Real Madrid Board of Directors, our club has won 58 trophies, including 6 European Cups in football and 3 European Cups in basketball.
 
Fernando Fernández-Tapias has been a model of loyalty, commitment and dedication to Real Madrid. His passing is a huge loss for Real Madrid and for all madridistas. May he rest in peace.
