Official Announcement: Manuel Ruiz de Lopera pases away
Real Madrid C. F., its president and Board of Directors are deeply saddened by the passing of Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, Real Betis Balompié president between 1996 and 2006, the club's CEO between 1992 and 1996 and majority shareholder up until 2010.
Real Madrid wishes to extend its condolences to his family, his club, the Real Betis Balompié fans and all of his loved ones.
Manuel Ruiz de Lopera has been one of Real Betis Balompié and Spanish football's historic club presidents. His tenure defined an era at the club, seeing Real Betis Balompié win the Copa del Rey in 2005, as well as reaching the final in 1997. Under his guidance, Real Betis Balompié played in the Champions League for the first time in 2005 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in the 1997-1998 season. The club was also involved in the UEFA Cup on four occasions (1995-1996, 1998-1999, 2002-2003 and 2005-2006).
Manuel Ruiz de Lopera has passed away at 79 years of age. May he rest in peace.
