Real Madrid continues its spectacular run in the Endesa League. The Whites beat Valencia Basket at the Movistar Arena to record an 18th consecutive win in the competition. After an even first half (46-44), the leader's victory was built on a superb third quarter. Feliz, with 20 points and 26 PIR, and Musa, 16 and 13, were the top performers for Chus Mateo's team.
The game was evenly matched in the opening minutes, but Madrid soon took the lead thanks to Feliz (6 points) and Musa (5 points). Valencia tried from the perimeter, albeit without great success (3 from 10 in three-pointers). Chus Mateo's team, who were 10 points up, ended up winning the first quarter 27-20.
Hezonja came onto the court and, together with Campazzo (13 points between them), increased the lead (44-36; min. 17). However, the visitors reacted, becoming more attentive in defence and taking advantage of our team's turnovers, and managed to reduce the gap before the end of the first half (46-44).
Strong third quarter
Costello levelled the game after the break, but Musa (9 points) and Abalde (5 points) put leaders back in front (62-52; min. 26). Valencia pressed to reduce the deficit, but Madrid's rebounding superiority was evident and Feliz's 8 points maintained the cushion at the end of the third quarter (74-63).
Real Madrid's dominance continued at the start of the final quarter and between Tavares and Feliz they increased the lead to a difference of 19 points and sealed the outcome (91-72, min. 36). Valencia reduced the gap in the final minutes, but not enough to prevent Real Madrid from winning (96-89, min. 40).
