Five months after their last Euroleague game at the Movistar ArenaReal Madrid made their home debut in the competition with a hard-fought win against Olympiacos. The Whites won a tough game in which they were down by as many as 12 points in the first quarter, but managed to come back in the second half thanks to a great collective effort. Hezonja led Madrid with 18 points and 19 PIR in a game in which FelizCampazzo and Deck also stood out. Tavares was decisive in defensive duties.

Olympiacos got off to a better start, a consequence of their great success from the perimeter. Led by Dorsey (14 points in the first quarter), the Greeks took a +12 lead after 7 minutes of play, with 4/4 in two-point baskets and 5/5 in three-pointers (11-23). KrämerFernando and Deck tried to close the gap, but were unable to counter the visitors' good early push (19-29; min. 10).
Madrid needed to improve in defence to get back into the game, and they did just that. Llull, with 6 points and Hezonja, with 5, brought our team within three points in just three minutes (35-38; min. 15). Despite baskets from Ward and Lee, the madridistas, with great free throw shooting, went on a 9-1 run to reduce the rival's lead to one point (44-45; min. 18). Vezenkov and Fournier took the reins in the final minutes of the first half to take the game to the break at 47-53.
Scariolo's team takes the lead
Feliz started the second half scoring 5 consecutive points, looking for the comeback. Three-pointers from Hezonja and Abalde materialised the effort to give Real Madrid a minimal but encouraging lead62-61 in the 25th minute. However, Olympiacos responded and threatened to recover the lost ground (64-69; min. 30).
Right at the start of the final quarter, Lyles and Deck appeared to level the game again, and they were followed by Garuba to put the Whites ahead (71-69; min. 33). Madrid maintained the lead thanks to good defensive play and the success of free throws that countered the baskets by Fournier and Wallkup (76-73; min. 37). HezonjaCampazzo and Tavares were responsible for putting more ground in the middle and giving us a +9 lead. Scariolo's team were able to keep the result in their favour and, after a hard-working second half, they completed the comeback to win their first Euroleague home game of the season (89-77; min. 40).
