Real Madrid defeated Baxi Manresa on league matchday four of the and have now won 34 consecutive ACB games at the Palacio, setting a new record. Scariolo's men were superior in a game they put on the right track in the final quarter, with Tavares unstoppable with 16 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks and a PIR of 39 in 20:57 minutes of play. Garuba played his 200th game in our jersey and was another standout (12 points and 9 rebounds) alongside Lyles (12 points).

The opponents surprised everyone with their start and a 7-0 run in their favour in the first two minutes. That was how long it took Real Madrid to get into gear. They responded well to turn the score around in the first quarter. They went on a 14-0 run thanks to their defensive adjustments, the dominant figure of Tavares (6 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks), two three-pointers from Abalde and five points from Campazzo (21-17, min. 10).

Tavares dominates
A three-pointer from Okeke opened the second quarter. Together with Almansa's good work at both ends of the court, they kept Madrid ahead at a time when Manresa were pushing hard. Without Tavares, Golden and Akobundu-Ehiogu had more presence in the paint, bringing their team to within one point at 31-30 in the 15th minute. Scariolo called a timeout and brought the Cape Verdean centre back into the game. The effect was immediate. He forced his opponents out of the game and scared off the opposition with another three blocks (five at half-time). Lyles and Abalde stretched the lead to seven points at the end of the first half (42-35).

Madrid continued to control the game. Led by the outstanding Tavares, who scored eight almost consecutive points to record a double-double, and the offensive contributions of Maledon and Lyles, Madrid built up a 15-point lead at 61-46 in the 28th minute. The visitors clung on to the game thanks to Golden and managed to reduce the deficit before heading into the final quarter (65-55, min. 30).

Going for the record
Real Madrid went into the final stretch looking for a historic league victory, their 34th consecutive home win. And that motivation led them to put in an extra effort in the final quarter to break a Barcelona record that had stood for more than 15 years, between January 2009 and June 2010. Garuba personified that dedication and concentration. In his 200th game in our shirt, the academy product took over from Tavares and dashed the hopes of a Manresa side that competed until the very end. Garuba was everywhere and produced one of the best plays of the game after a steal and a spectacular dunk on the counter-attack. Campazzo sealed the victory that extends the league streak at the Palacio (87-75).
