MATCH REPORT.Edu Bueno

Real Madrid lost to Baskonia in the penultimate game of the Euroleague Regular Season at the WiZink CenterChus Mateo's side, who are assured of first place in the final, started very well but ended up losing in the final moments to an opponent who desperately needed a win to stay in the play-off positions. Campazzo, with 25 PIR (12 points and 9 assists), was our team's most outstanding player. Sergio Rodríguez played his 400th Euroleague game, his 216th as a madridista.
The team started strongly with a spectacular first quarter. They started at a very high tempo, controlling rebounds and turnovers, and gave an exhibition on the counterattack. In just over five minutes they had scored 20 of the 27 points with which they finished the first 10 minutes, ten of them from Hezonja and nine from Causeur. The Madrid duo led a significant part of a 15-point lead against a Baskonia side that was struggling to hold on (27-17, min.10).
Madrid quell the visitors' reaction
The introduction of Howard and Costello brought more offensive danger to their team, who began to see the rim frequently and were getting closer on the scoreboard as the second half wore on. Madrid had slowed down and this was noticeable in defence. Sedekerskis brought Baskonia within three points at 40-37 with three minutes to go before half-time. But it turned out to be a moment of respite to regain their strength. Chus Mateo's men went on an 8-0 run with Campazzo omnipresent (he finished the first half with 7 points, 5 assists and 3 steals). Together with Yabusele and Deck, who scored a tremendous dunk in transition, they were the architects of a reaction that allowed them to go 6 up at half-time after a triple by Howard in the final seconds (48-42).
The defenders became more important in the second half, much to the detriment of the offensive lines of both teams. In addition, the game became more and more crazy at times and that is where the visitors were at their best. Howard's three-pointers and offensive rebounding put them ahead for the first time in the game before the final quarter (64-65, min.30).
Thrills until the end
The denouement was a vibrant tug-of-war. Musa and Poirier struck first for Madrid, who managed to take the lead with a 7-2 run. It didn't last long. Baskonia responded, with Costello and Howard, to take their biggest lead of the game at 75-82 in the 37th minute. Campazzo and Hezonja made it 81-82 a minute later, but our opponents were more accurate with their free throws and ended up taking the game 91-95.
