Real Madrid continued their dominance in El Clásico by beating Barcelona at the Palau and extending their winning streak against the Azulgranas to nine games in a row in a run that began in April 2024. Our team produced a stellar attacking performance in their first Euroleague away game of the season. They scored over 100 points, with 34 in the first quarter and 58 at half-time, a feat that no team had ever achieved against the Azulgranas in the history of the Euroleague. Lyles stood out with 29 points and a PIR of 32 for Scariolo's team, who secured their fifth win in this competition. Len made his debut.

The first Clásico of the season got off to a flying start, as a result of Madrid imposing their strong offence. They scored 31 points, with five three-pointers and 7 of 11 two-point shots. They only lost one ball, dominated the rebound and overwhelmed Barcelona, who struggled to keep up with Madrid's pace. They managed to do so for eight minutes because they were also accurate from outside, but they fell behind against an inspired team in which all the players contributed, led by Campazzo and Lyles (9 points each). A stunning three-pointer by Okeke from his own half and on the buzzer capped a 2-10 run in two minutes (23-34, min. 10).

Slowing down the opponent with attacks
Madrid maintained a high level of accuracy. It was the antidote to counter Barcelona's push in the second quarter. Maledon put our team 17 points ahead at 27-44 in the 14th minute. The home side pressed hard. Clyburn, Shengelia and Vesely put pressure on Scariolo's men, but they always had an answer in the form of three-pointers (two from Hezonja) and an unstoppable Lyles. The American scored seven points in a row when Barcelona were closest in a first half that ended with a 10-point lead for our team, with 58 points scored. A record tally against Barcelona at half-time in a Euroleague game (48-58).

The game heated up even more in the third quarter. Barcelona and the Palau put pressure on a Madrid team that was unshakeable mentally and in their play. They responded to every home attack like the definition of a top team. And easy it was not because their opponents sought to catch up at all costs. However, different players took up the mantle to counter the home side's points. Lyles continued his heroics and was key at the start of this period with 11 almost consecutive points. He took his place on the bench with 27 points to his name. Feliz and then Hezonja took up the baton and Madrid extended their lead to 16 points (69-85, min. 30).

The best offensive game of the season
That lead had to be defended in the final quarter. Barcelona gave it all they had, but Madrid never allowed their opponents to believe they could get back into the game. They slowed down their offensive output but scored when they had to to make a statement. Maledon proved to be instrumental in the final stages. A three-pointer, a basket and an unsportsmanlike foul that took Punter out of the game deflated Barça's hopes. Another three-pointer from Campazzo buried them. But Madrid wanted more and put the icing on the cake of their sparkling victory by surpassing 100 points in what is their best scoring performance this season (92-101, min. 40).
