MATCH REPORT.Edu Bueno
Real Madrid picked up their seventh consecutive win, the twenty-third in the league, after a tough trip to the Fontes Do Sar pavilion in Santiago de Compostela for the round 32 match. Abalde's basket in the last second gave Laso's team the win against an impressive Monbus Obradoiro team. Madrid settled an evenly matched game in the last second to consolidate their fine run of form. The result also sees them guarantee second place in the playoffs with two games left to play before the end of the regular season.

The first half was very evenly matched and had a very high offensive intensity. The home team were more successful on the three pointers 4/6 while Madrid dominated on the paint. Hobbs' seven points put his side in the lead for the best part of the first quarter opening up leads of up to 5 points, but our side, who were being carried by Hanga 7, went on a 3-10 run to finish on top at the end of the first period 21-23. The second quarter followed the same script as Monbus Obradoiro continued to score very comfortably from distance, and Laso's team were unable to fix this defensive issue. Fluency and freshness in attack counteracted it, with Llull standing out. The captain produced a sensational 9 minutes scoring 12 points and providing 2 assists, as Tavares joined in from the paint. Madrid took the two-point difference into half-time 44-46.
The home team, who were fighting for survival, emerged in the third quarter with a more aggressive and energetic approach to the game. Birutis released a flurry of shots from the outside, putting his side five points up 56-61, min. 25. Madrid were not fazed by the Galician thrust nor Fontes Do Sar's crowd pushing on. Abalde and Yabusele cancelled out the deficit, restoring parity heading into the final period 63-62, min. 30.

Llull and Poirier support as Abalde proves decisive
Obradoiro stepped up the pressure with offensive rebounds and T. Scrubb was on a roll. Real Madrid hit back with three-pointers from Taylor and Poirier, active around the basket. The momentum continued to change hands right up to the end. Our team were first up with a 0-7 run to make it 77-84 with 4 minutes to go. Moncho Fernández's team then responded with a run of their own with 3 consecutive three pointers, making it 86-84 going into the final two minutes. Biritus made it 88-87 with a dunk with 6 seconds left. Llull then went up and down the court and a released an hopeful shot that fell short. Abalde was on for the rebound to score the two points that gave Madrid the win 88-89. The last week before the Final Four comes up for our team as we host UCAM Murcia on Wednesday 9pm CEST.
