Scariolo: “I can't fault the effort of the players”
"We shot better from two-point range, rebounded better and stole more balls, but we had a terrible three-point percentage," explained the coach after the game against Virtus Bologna.
Sergio Scariolo analysed the clash between Real Madrid and Virtus Bologna, on matchday one of the EuroLeague: “It was a typical first EuroLeague game, all work in progress, with ups and downs. We shot better from two-point range, we rebounded better, we stole more balls, but unfortunately, we had a terrible three-point percentage. We have to work on that. We generated a lot of great shots and they were open, but we missed them unexpectedly.”
"The fitness and condition of the players, especially some who have been out for several weeks or even months during the summer, is not particularly strong. We have to accept that, it's a very long process and it's not about being fit in September, October or November, it's more about the medium and long term.”
“We have to keep working and at the same time compete. I can't fault the effort of the players. We came back whenever they built a lead, but unfortunately the last one was crucial. We have to keep our heads up because in 48 hours we have another game."
