Scariolo: "There's willingness to work hard"
“We still have a lot of room for improvement, but we're highly motivated for the season,” added Campazzo.
Sergio Scariolo and Campazzo analysed Real Madrid’s victory over Casademont Zaragoza. The coach, who took charge of his first game on the bench, said: “Obviously, for what counts, at this stage of the pre-season, the team has made a great effort. The intensity is there, but we still have a lack of balance. The collaboration, the communication is very weak and we can do a lot more as a team.”
“We have to try to balance the physical condition, the understanding of our system by our players, because some of them have been here for two weeks, others have just arrived. We're still lacking in physical and technical-tactical homogeneity, but the attitude is there, there's a willingness to work hard.”
Campazzo: “The signings add a lot to the team”
“This match is a way of continuing to get more games under our belt, improving as the season goes on, but we take the result as something secondary. We want to work on our own things and these matches are good for us. We still have a lot of room for improvement. The injured players have yet to return to the team. We want to go further. We're learning and improving, and we're highly motivated for the season.”
“There are a lot of new faces, a lot of changes, so we're getting used to it. Scariolo is a different kind of coach and we're trying to apply what he tells us in the game. We're not going to compromise on energy with him; with intensity, attitude and dedication.”
“The signings add a lot to the team. They'll give the team a boost in quality. We have to make the most of it. They look like they want to win important things. Wearing this jersey carries a responsibility and from the first minute they are here they know that.”
On Maledon
“He proved that last season he was one of the best point guards in Europe. He gets the rest of the team involved, he's a good scorer, he's a good defender, his input raises the level for us. I'm happy with how he played and how he looks.”
