Scariolo: “It’s an unusual game because we won’t have the support of our fans”
“It’s important to build a solid base through control of defensive rebounds,” said the coach ahead of the clash with Maccabi.
Sergio Scariolo spoke in the build-up to Real Madrid-Maccabi Tel Aviv in EuroLeague Round 21. The coach discussed the game set to be played at the Movistar Arena (Thursday, 8:45 pm CET; Movistar Plus+): “It’s an unusual game where we have to make use of all our resources—motivation, energy, and competitiveness—within ourselves, because we won’t have the support of our fans.”
“We’re facing a team loaded with talent, point-scoring, great one-on-one play, and atypical players who can move in and out of the paint. They possess fantastic ability to attack the offensive boards and play at a very high tempo, so defensive transition will be crucial. It’s important that we build a solid base through control of the defensive rebounds.”
