Rudy: “I'll remember this for the rest of my life”
“I think I made the best decision in coming here and I'd like to thank, first and foremost, the club president,” added the player after the ovation he received at the WiZink Center.
Rudy Fernández was the star of the second game of the Liga Endesa final series against UCAM Murcia. This was for two reasons: because he spearheaded the team to victory and because of the emotional tribute he received at the end from the WiZink Center faithful, who gave him a standing ovation for more than 15 minutes. The small forward talked about it after the game: “There are a lot of emotions going into today because this might be the last game here. But I will leave with the feeling that I've done a good job and that I've given my all for this club. Today's recognition was incredible and I'll carry it with me throughout my life. I'm grateful to the people who have helped me along the way.”
"It's been so many years, so many battles together, so many trophies and so many defeats. I think I made the best decision in coming here and I'd like to thank the people who made it possible, first and foremost the club president. I hope today was a goodbye because I hope I don't have to come back for the fifth game. I'll remember this for the rest of my life. And to experience it with my family was unbelievable.”
His wishes
“It's not over here; there's one more game to go. This could be the last game, but we know that Murcia are a great team. With all due respect to Murcia, I hope I don't have to come back, that’s for sure.”
