Pedro Martínez: “We had a very good first half”
“We know the pace our coach wants, and every day we’re improving,” said Feliz after the victory against Asvel.
Pedro Martínez and Andrés Feliz analyzed Real Madrid's victory against Asvel Villeurbanne. The coach spoke after the sixth round of the EuroLeague, which was held at the Movistar Arena: “We were very surprised at the start of the game when we saw the players they were missing because they were very important players. Our game plan in that sense had to change a lot on the fly, especially what we had to do in defense and offense.”
“We had a very good first half in terms of pace, with some problems in defense because their play with very small players created a lot of difficulties for us in one-on-one situations. In the third quarter, they executed a very tight zone defense, and we didn’t attack it well. We took many shots outside of how we should be taking them, and they managed the situation very well with our nerves, creating the feeling that we weren’t scoring.”
Final stretch
“We went through a very bad moment, but later, especially with Maledon coming in at the end of the third quarter, who started attacking the paint and going inside, we managed to get two-point shots and then three-point shots, which are the ones we are really looking for, the ones that come from inside. That’s when we managed to break the game again. These things happen.”
Feliz: “We’re staying on a good path”
“I’m proud of what my teammates are saying, and I feel very grateful to them. We know the pace our coach wants, and every day we’re improving. At first, it’s hard to adapt, but we’re staying on a good path.”
