Hezonja: “We need to play with maximum focus against Hapoel"

Mario Hezonja, who reached 300 games with the Real Madrid jersey during the victory in El Clásico, analyzed on Realmadrid TV the upcoming match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, which will be played at Movistar Arena behind closed doors: “This is a very important game for us in terms of the EuroLeague standings. We already beat them there, and a victory against them at home would give us a big boost. They have been near the top of the standings for most of the season, they’re playing really well, have a good coach, and solid gameplay. It’s going to be a tough but fun game to play.”

“We need to know how to attack them and be clear about where we want to direct our game and which weaknesses we want to exploit. In defense, we must secure the rebound and stay fully focused against their ball handlers.”

What kind of game are you expecting?
“Playing without fans is very unusual for us. It’s true that we also train in this environment, without fans, and we should bring that same focus to the game against Hapoel. They’re a new team in the EuroLeague, playing a bit differently compared to other teams, and that has brought them success. We need to go in with maximum concentration and peak physical readiness.”

Is beating Hapoel a step forward for the playoffs?
“Yes, because then we face the first and second teams in the standings. These are two top-tier games in two of the best atmospheres in Europe, and they’ll be fun to play. Individually, it’s another challenge. I like having the three best teams in the next three matchdays. We’ll focus on ourselves and aim to win all three.”
