Chus Mateo: “We came very close to the comeback but couldn't manage it”
"In the second half we showed some pride but when you concede so much in the first half it's difficult," the coach explained after the game against Anadolu Efes.
Chus Mateo spoke after the game between Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes at the WiZink Center. The coach said: "We tried to come back with pride. In the second half we played good defence, at least 15 or 16 minutes of good basketball and we managed to slow their rhythm and got back into the game. But when you give such a big lead away in the first half it isn't easy to come back. We were really close, but we couldn't make it happen."
"We just couldn't get our game together, offensively or defensively. In attack I was worried that we tried to look for very easy solutions, without working on them and losing a lot of turnovers that ended up in baskets. When we took them to five-on-five in the middle of the court it was different. In the second half we showed pride and tried to pull ourselves together but we didn't get there."
