Chus Mateo: “We had the last shot again and it went in”
"My teammates gave me these last two balls and they went in," said Deck following the winning three-pointer against Joventut.
Chus Mateo and Gabriel Deck talked after Real Madrid's win against Joventut in the league's 29th round. The coach said: "We won at home again. We needed to get back to winning ways here tonight against a fresh and energetic opponent. Joventut were very brave. We fought our way back into the game in the second half. We went into the third quarter in good shape and got a good lead by playing better and with more energy. They were really good from three pointers and ultimately the game was decided at the very end. We had the final shot again and we made it".
"We play Zaragoza next Sunday and we have to get the win, but it's true that we are looking at the Euroleague playoffs out of the corner of our eye. It is impossible to avoid thinking about it. It's really important that we are working and resting this week".
"We are doing well in the ACB League. We have won the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa and I think we have the strength to be able to say that if we have done this we are capable of going on to do other things. Come the playoffs we have to be mentally very strong because it's the toughest time of the year."
Praise for Deck
"He's a tireless worker and always ready for what is asked of him: to rebound, to defend and in this case for the last shot. He's done it before and we know we can rely on him. He is calm enough to be able to score in those last seconds. I'm happy for him because he doesn't normally get a lot of headlines".
Deck: "Playing at home is a bonus for us"
"We knew it was going to be a difficult game against a very good team that played very well, but we got the win in the end and we now have to focus on what's to come."
"I was lucky enough to score with the last two balls, I got my team-mates to pass them to me and they went in. They sometimes go in and sometimes they don't. I'm happy and happy that the team won. I'm happy and pleased that the team won but we have to keep working hard because there are some good things coming. I'm sure they didn't want to leave Llull on his own, he passed it to me and we were lucky enough to put it in. It was a great team effort".
Support from the fans
"Playing at home is a bonus here and even more so in games like this, that are very hard-fought. We appreciate their support and let's hope it continues like this. Every team surely wants to win, but we'll try to do our best, do well as a team and get as many wins as we can".
