Chus Mateo: “We performed well as a team”
“Our defensive attitude won us the game,” said Tavares.

Chus Mateo and Walter Tavares analysed Real Madrid’s victory against Olympiacos in the third playoff clash in the EuroLeague. The coach had this to say: “We feel stronger because of our collective play. If we restrict ourselves to just two or three players, we probably aren't as strong a team. It's very important to be united as a team to beat Olympiacos.”
“We performed well as a team. Aside from good individual performances, as there have been at times, it is crucial to understand that this is a collective game where we all win and lose, where sharing the ball is good, where everyone feels involved in attack and where we are able to stick together defensively, as we did today, with the maximum attention. That's what allowed us to win the game.”
Tavares: “We need everyone's energy”
“We're still in a complex situation but we've taken an important step forward. Now we have another game and we have to do what we can to protect our home position and have a chance in Greece.”
“We need everyone's energy, from those who are playing to those on the bench. We support and encourage each other because we have a team in front of us that makes you pay for all your mistakes. We showed a great defensive attitude and that's what won us the game.”
