Chus Mateo: “We have to be at our best to win in Vitoria”
“We have to look to do things well for the whole 40 minutess”, said Deck prior to the game against Baskonia.
Chus Mateo and Deck discussed the Euroleague round 3 match between Baskonia and Real Madrid, which will be played at the Buesa Arena (Tuesday, 8:30pm CEST). The coach commented in the press room: "It's never easy playing in Vitoria, but we won every time we played there last year. They're a team that plays good basketball, they have a lot of depth and they have quality players. They will have their fans‘ backing and we'll have to be at our best in every department: one-on-one, rebounding and avoiding mistakes to be able to beat them".
"We have to be solid in defence, be very tight and be strong and rebound well and be able to stop their run because they run well. We have to be careful not to let their players grow into it".
Campazzo's absence
"It obviously affects us, but it is what it is. We'll see if we can put in a good performance without Campazzo and Feliz, who are the two point guards we started with. We're not making excuses for anything. We know how difficult it is, but we have to approach it in a different way".

"Anyone can stand in during an emergency. If we don't have the means, we'll have to invent them".

"He won't be available initially. He has some discomfort and he's had some tests. He's been in and out of the team and that affects the dynamics of the team and his integration. Hopefully he'll recover as soon as possible and integrate quickly".

"It will be a tough game on their home court, like always. We have to look to do things well for the whole 40 minutes and get the win. We have to play with intensity and be focused from the outset. That's how we have to approach the game".
