Poirier's superb start to the season
The French center is enjoying his best numbers for Real Madrid.
A key element to Real Madrid's spectacular start to the season, which has seen them win their first twelve in a row, is an impressive strength in depth. Poirier has had a huge role to play in that success early on, notching up his best ever numbers in our colours.
In the EuroLeague he's averaging 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and a PIR of 17 in 20:42 minutes on court. That is his highest point-scoring average during his five seasons to date three with Madrid and two with Baskonia and he heads the team's numbers there so far this campaign. His best display came in the win over Zalgiris, when he posted 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and a PIR of 29 in just over 20 minutes of play.
His league stats aren't too shabby either. In the six games played, he's averaging 10 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1.5 recoveries and 1.5 blocks, shooting 64.5% from two points and 83.3% from the free-throw line, numbers which give him a PIR of 15.3 in 19:45 minutes. These are his highest averages in the ACB in terms of offense, blocks, recoveries and PIR. In the Clásico, he posted a PIR of 29, with 22 points and 8 rebounds, while he also played a decisive role in the Super Cup. His semi-final performance was strong, but his efforts in the final proved vital, with 11 points in just 13 minutes. He's certainly proving a rock in the madridista paint.
