Sergio Llull becomes player with most appearances in Real Madrid history: “This club has given me everything since I came here at the age of 19”
The captain reached 1,047 appearances for our basketball team against Bayern Munich.
Sergio Llull played his 1,047th game for Real Madrid at the BMW Park against Bayern Munich, which makes him the player who has worn our jersey the most times in the basketball team's history. Llull is in his 18th season at the club, the same number as Rullán, and the captain continues to smash records and enhance his legacy, which includes an impressive 26 trophies: 3 EuroLeagues, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 7 League titles, 6 Copa del Rey trophies and 9 Super Cups. The previous record was held by Felipe Reyes, with 1,046 games.
After the match, Llull spoke on Realmadrid TV: “This club has given me everything since I came here at the age of 19. I'm happy and proud of this record and it's an honour to overtake Felipe (Reyes). I'm motivated for what's to come and I will try to build on this record.”
Unforgettable moments
“There have been many great games, comebacks and trophies. The one last year with that shot in the EuroLeague holds a special place in my heart. Above that game is the one when I came back from injury. That feeling was amazing to see all the people in the Palacio standing up, applauding and shouting my name. I'll always remember that game.”
Same desire as always
“I'm the same and I try to play 100%. When you get older and more experienced you hone your game. The character and the desire to give everything on the court remain.”
Victory in Munich
“This is a difficult court, but the team was very good from the start. We set our rhythm, controlled the rebounding and were accurate.”
Beckenbauer
“We are saddened by the news. We wanted to join in the minute's silence and with the T-shirts in honour of him, a legend that transcends beyond football and sport.”
