Tavares: “We want to start the season with the best possible feeling"
“The Super Cup is huge motivation,” said the Cape Verde center.
Tavares was interviewed by Realmadrid TV ahead of the Endesa Super Cup semifinals, which see our team face La Laguna Tenerife (Saturday, 9:00pm CEST): “The Super Cup is highly motivating because if we win it, we get the season off on the right foot. We're going to be totally focused and prepared from the off to start the season with the best possible feeling."
“We have so many things we have to learn, but I think we're getting to grips with things pretty quickly. We have to try and be prepared, and to be as receptive as possible to the new ideas. There's a lot to take in, and you have to be focused in order to learn everything so we can feel comfortable and win loads of games."
Changes to the team
“We have so many options right now. We're defending in a far more aggressive and proactive manner. The intensity has really increased, I think the team looks energetic and alive. The new guys are hungry to show what they can do and that's what we need if we want to win games."
Key elements of the clash
“The key is to see who is going to be best prepared. We are ready because we've been training for longer and learning great things. There's a lot there, but we're picking things up quickly. The most important thing is that we're working well and we're taking on board all the new information. Now it's time to put it into practice in a tournament that really means a lot to us."
La Laguna Tenerife
“They had a great season last year. They won a lot of games, I think they broke their club record. They know they're up against Real Madrid and they'll give it everything they have. We're ready, we're going to play as well as we possibly can. This is the first game, we don't know what will happen, and we have to show top concentration."
What is he hoping for this season?
"I always want the same thing - to win every possible available trophy. One of my dreams is to win every title in the same season. It's a lot to ask, but we're right to dream big. We'll do all we can to at least get to all the finals."
