42 years ago, Real Madrid claimed their 22nd basketball league title. On 17 April 1982, the Whites clinched the championship with a victory at Barcelona. The squad was coached by Lolo Sainz, who collected the fifth of his eight league titles in charge of Real Madrid, and underlined his supremacy in the competition (22 out of 26 editions).
The championship battle was a head-to-head contest between Madrid and Barcelona, who met on the last matchday, level on points at the top of the table. The Palau hosted the title decider, in which the madridistas convincingly prevailed over the Catalans (93-102). Delibasic (28 points), Iturriaga (23), Brabender (19) and Fernando MartÃn (14) were the standout players in this decisive match.
