Xavier Rathan-Mayes signs for Real Madrid

Xavier Rathan-Mayes (29/04/1994; Markham, Canada) has signed for Real Madrid on a two-season deal. Joining from Russian club Enisey Krasnoyarsk, the 1.91m Canadian can play at point guard or shooting guard. He was the top scorer in the VTB League, averaging 25.4 points per game, and broke the Russian single-season scoring record with 991 points.
Rathan-Mayes is an offensive stalwart, capable of scoring 30 points in 4:40 minutes a game as a freshman with Florida State and the 42 he scored last season for BC Parma in the Russian league. With Siberian side Enisey Krasnoyarsk he reached the quarter-finals of the last playoffs, where he played against CSKA Moscow and averaged 22.3 points and 6 assists. For the Russian team he scored 53.8% from two-point range and 35% from three-point range. He also boasts vision (4.4 assists) and is a very strong rebounder for his position (4.2).
Real Madrid have reinforced their perimeter line-up with a player of great experience after playing in different countries such as the United States, where he played in the NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies and in various teams in the G-League, Greece, Israel, Turkey and Russia, to name a few.
