Smith Jr.: “I like winning, and this club fits perfectly with me”
“I have come to Real Madrid to help and compete,” added the new madridista player on Realmadrid TV.
Nick Smith Jr. gave his first interview to Realmadrid TV as a new Real Madrid player: “I wanted the opportunity to come and play in a different environment and style of basketball. I’ve been watching the EuroLeague for a long time, I have a lot of respect for the players, and I want to compete. I was very excited to learn about the history of Real Madrid. When I was younger, I didn’t know much about it, but I understand that winning is the most important thing for the fans and the club.”
Goals
“I have come here to help and compete. I bring a lot of energy to the team, both on offense and defense. I’m a young player, I like to play up and down the court. I enjoy myself, I like winning, and I feel this club fits perfectly with me in that sense.”
“I don’t start the season with personal goals because I feel that if I think too much about that, it can affect me. I just play my game. I try to set team goals instead of individual ones because if you get many wins, the team benefits. I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself in that sense because I know it’s a new league for me.”
Signing for Real Madrid
“I didn’t consider it until last month when the opportunity arose. I had never been to Madrid before, but knowing the club’s history, the coach, and the players who have been here, it was an easy decision. I wanted to come here to play, adapt quickly, and win.”

“It didn’t influence my decision, but he always talked about Real Madrid, the EuroLeague, and everything it represents. He always said the NBA was much easier. He talked about it a lot, and I took it as a personal challenge. I’ll write to him soon to ask him many things about the city. I’m sure he’s happy for me.”
