Biriukov and Iturriaga were Madrid's top scorers in the game with 19 points. In the semi-finals, Madrid defeated Zaragoza 100-96, while Joventut beat Barcelona in the other tie.
That squad, coached by Lolo Sainz, thus defended the Cup title against the same opponent as in the previous edition. Moreover, Real Madrid also won the league that season, taking home a double.
