Dzanan Musa joins Real Madrid
The Bosnian forward was crowned MVP and finished top scorer in the latest edition of the ACB League (20.1 points and a PIR of 23.1).
Dzanan Musa 8/5/1999; Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina is Real Madrid's latest recruit and joins on a two-year deal as our club welcomes one of the brightest talents in European basketball. At just 23, the Bosnian international was named MVP and finished top scorer in the 2021-22 Endesa League campaign with Río Breogán, averaging 20.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals and a PIR of 23.1 in the process. He produced the top two performances in the league last season, recording PIRs of 47 and 44.
He has had a massive impact in the Spanish league. Musa paced a newly promoted team to Copa del Rey glory 32 years on from the last time the club lifted the domestic trophy. Measuring in at 2.05m, he is a forward with immense scoring talent and fine technical ability. This season he has averaged a 56.1% success rate on two-pointers and 38.1% on triples. He posted double digits in the scoring stakes in 27 of his 29 appearances, surpassing the 30-point mark on two occasions.
Musa made his professional debut at the age of 15 with Cedevita Zagreb and aged 16 years and five months, he had already graced the EuroLeague. During his time at the Croatian club, he lifted three league and cup trophies apiece, whilst also picking up the Adriatic Super Cup. He was named MVP in the U-16 European Championship as he led Bosnia to a historic gold medal in Kaunas. The following year, he posted 50 points in the U-17 World Cup match-up against Taipei and finished as the tournament's leading scorer with an average of 34 points.
He was listed in 29th position in the 2018 NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets, whom he represented for two seasons following a spell in the the G-League. Following a swap with Detroit, he returned to Europe in January 2021 to turn out for Anadolu Efes, with whom he secured the 2021 EuroLeague crown and the Turkish league title. At the end of the season, he joined Río Breogán, where he has established himself as the league's standout player.
