Alberto Abalde spoke to Realmadrid TV in the run-up to the first official match of the season: the Super Cup semi-final against Barcelona. The small forward had this to say: “We're really excited about starting a new season with new challenges. The Super Cup is a trophy that always comes very early, with the pre-season just started, but we're really looking forward to starting to compete.”
“The aim is to try to use the winning momentum from last season and from our last trophy, which was the league. We have a strong squad, we've been together for a long time and we're going to try to put that to our advantage and have a good semi-final to get us through to the final.”
Barça
“They're our biggest rivals. We know each other very well, we play each other a lot of times every year and we compete for trophies. They're always tough and very competitive matches. They're a great team that have strengthened nicely and they're going to make things difficult for us.”
