Real Madrid-Virtus Bolonia: EuroLeague returns in style
The leaders will be looking to defend their unbeaten start against opposition on a good run themselves (8:45pm CET).
Following two weeks without a European game due to the suspension of the clash with Maccabi, Real Madrid return to continental action tonight sitting top of the table as the only unbeaten team left. They welcome an opponent of great European pedigree in Virtus Bolonia, who currently lie in third place with the same number of wins but having played one game more. Chus Mateo's boys will be hoping to clinch a sixteenth successive win this season.
It promises to be another big night of basketball at the WiZink Center on EuroLeague matchday seven. The madridistas' unbeaten status in the competition will surely be put to the test 15 from 15 so far against the Italian outfit. Luca Banchi's team have started strong, winning their last five on the bounce. On the road, they have won both so far, against Monaco and Asvel. Madrid are proving unplayable at the WiZink Center, though, having seen off Zalgiris, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Barça.

Tonight's encounter pits two of the competition's best offenses against each other, scoring an average of 85 points apiece. Both teams also average nearly 100 in PIR, a reflection of both units' collective strength. Chus Mateo's boys will have to make it count on the rebound and in defense, two areas where they are outdoing their rivals. Virtus have shown some outstanding shooting stats, especially from the three-point line 41.3%, with Shengelia as the standout man. Cordinier, Belinelli and former madridista Mickey are other leading lights for a team that boasts vast experience with the likes of Lundberg, Hackett and Dunston in the ranks too.
Looking to extend the run
