Real Madrid-Bàsquet Girona: chasing an eighth consecutive victory
Scariolo's men face their second game of the week at the Movistar Arena (5 pm CET).
Following their victory over Baskonia in the EuroLeague last Thursday, Real Madrid welcome Bàsquet Girona today on league matchday 10 to round off a week featuring two home games. Scariolo's side will be looking to extend their run of seven consecutive victories across both competitions and remain at the top of the table, which they currently share with Valencia Basket (8-1).
Unbeaten at home
In the league, Madrid have racked up seven consecutive wins and are unbeaten at the Movistar Arena after four games. The last home game was against Bilbao Basket on 16 November. Since then, they have not lost a single game (Zalgiris, Granada, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Anadolu Efes, Tenerife and Baskonia). Bàsquet Girona find themselves in the middle of the table in a cluster of five teams with four wins and five defeats.
The Girona-based outfit has been improving since the start of the season. After three defeats, they have won four of their last six games. They are a competitive team, very powerful on the rebound, especially defensively (they lead the statistics), and with a high-scoring outside line (Busquets, Livingston and Needham, Pepe Vildoza and Hughes).
Advantage over Bàsquet Girona
This match-up is fairly recent. The first game between the two teams was in 2023 after the Catalan team's promotion. They have met on six occasions, with Real Madrid winning all of them by an average margin of 17.5 points. This afternoon, our team will try to extend its record of 35 consecutive home wins in the ACB.
