Barça-Real Madrid: visitors aiming for victory in second Clásico of the season

Real Madrid visit the Palau Blaugrana to take on Barcelona on matchday 12 of the EuroLeague. This will be the second Clasico of the season after The Whites' victory in the Super Cup semi-finals in Murcia (89-83). Chus Mateo’s boys will be aiming to get an away win against a side who have suffered two consecutive defeats in Europe.

The Madridistas and the Catalans got the season underway on 21 September at the Palacio de los Deportes in Murcia. On that day, Campazzo delivered one of his finest performances (33 in PIR) to lead the team to the final. Two months later, the two sides meet again at the Palau. Madrid will be vying to win away from home and climb up the standings.

Barcelona have lost in the last two European encounters, at home to Paris Basketball and away to Bayern Munich. In those two games, they conceded 103 and 100 points, respectively. Meanwhile, Real Madrid go into the clash on the back of a victory over Alba Berlin, equalling their highest-scoring tally in the EuroLeague this season with 98 points. Chus Mateo has Musa back, his top scorer and a pivotal player in the team. Along with Campazzo, Hezonja and Tavares, they are the four players who have double digits in scoring. However, every detail counts in these types of games and the excellent form of Rathan-Mayes, and an always-productive Ibaka, could also prove to be important factors.

Madrid's opponents have been more consistent in attack than in defence. They rank second in assists in the competition and are averaging almost 85 points per game. Without the injured Laprovittola and Metu, new signing Neto could make his debut. This will be the last game of the month, which will usher in an action-packed December with a game every three days or less, culminating on the 29th with another Clasico at the WiZink Center.
