Description

This project is run with the aim of offering the boys, girls and young people who participate in it a programme which promotes the productive and healthy use of their free time, as well as their schooling and the chance to take part in physical activity and courses which aim to prevent them from becoming overweight and suffering from obesity.

The participants hail from backgrounds in which seven out of every 10 people are overweight or suffer from obesity, which represents a risk to public health. Furthermore, in the Istmo de Tehuantepec region (which the town of Unión Hidalgo belongs to) there are high levels of violence (in its psychological, physical and sexual forms) against women.

In addition to the sporting activities, the participants also take part in a nutritional programme in which they receive periodic medical checks and are taught about nutrition. In addition, awareness-raising activities and courses to get girls involved at the school are laid on, in an attempt to assist their social integration.
