Description

This project is run in Guatemala City, in zone 6 of the city at the facilities within the Cementos Progreso stadium, which is owned by the Fundación Carlos F. Novella (Carlos F. Novella Foundation). The aforementioned stadium is currently one of the most modern sporting facilities across the Central American region and is the second most visited stadium in Guatemala.

The participants at this school are boys and girls aged between 6 and 17, who live in the zones 6 and 18 of Guatemala City and in the towns of Chinautla and San Pedro Ayampuc.

The socio-sporting activities include: academic support, access to the library and its study centre (which is equipped with computers), dietary assessments to catch nutritional issues amongst pupils at an early stage, a dietary supplement programme for all pupils and a psychological support programme for those requiring it.

In addition, a programme has also been created for parents, with a view to teaching them how to deal with situations of family crisis, exercising assertive discipline and about the implementation of values in family life, as well as offering them courses in nutritional cooking and skills to set up microenterprises. Finally work will be done to establish an ethical and behavioural code amongst all of the stakeholders.
