The socio-sporting schools and humanitarian aid projects in Africa are mainly run in educational centres managed by religious organisations. The overall aim is to use sport and its values to promote the holistic development of children and adolescents, foster their schooling and professional training, reduce drop-out rates, and educate participants in the values of peace and citizenship through sport.

One of the main objectives is to promote the rights of children throughout the continent in the field of equality and the projects achieve this by attracting girls to sporting activities.
