Real Madrid end the year top of the league after getting the better of UCAM Murcia away in the last game of 2025 to record their eleventh straight victory in the competition. The win guaranteed Scariolo’s team a place in the upcoming Copa del Rey, and was a statement of intent in the clash between the top two in the table. A solid defensive display and key performances from point guards Campazzo (15 points and PIR 21) and Feliz (13 and 20), alongside the impressive Len in the paint (12 points and 6 rebounds), made sure of the victory.
There was an exchange of baskets early on in the game. UCAM Murcia capitalised straight out of the blocks with some strong offensive rebounding led by former Madrid youth teamer Cate, and superior three-point shooting. Madrid countered with good shooting near the rim from Llull (5 points) and Hezonja (4). With the scores tied at 13, a surge from our boys saw them tighten their defensive rebound and run off recoveries (two by Campazzo) to take control for the rest of the first quarter (18-22, min.10).
Madrid step it up in defense
The points dropped off in the second quarter, as both sides showed more aggression and accuracy fell away. But Scariolo’s men were patient. They locked down in defense and closed out the rebound, denying Murcia any second chances. In offense, they found solutions time and again with different guys stepping up at different moments. Garuba, Deck, Maledon, Len, and Hezonja helped Madrid build up an 11-point cushion during the period, as all 12 players got on the scoreboard (32-41, min.20).
UCAM Murcia upped the pressure after the break, led by Forrest, and they hurt Madrid again on the offensive rebound. Once more though, the madridistas responded - first through Tavares, until a technical and a personal foul sent him to the bench with four - and then through Campazzo. The point guard, who was enjoying a fine defensive display, stepped up in offense now and posted 10 almost consecutive points and a flurry of assists for Len to keep the team ahead (55-67, min.30).
The league leaders stay solid
Sito Alonso’s team made another push early in the last quarter with a series of consecutive threes. Feliz took over where Campazzo left off, and answered with two triples of his own. Deck and Len clinched second chances with offensive rebounds, before Tavares’ fifth foul gave UCAM Murcia hope. With some impressive shooting from 6.75 m, the hosts closed to within four points at 74-80 in the 37th minute but Madrid kept their composure kept them at arm's length. Five straight points from Abalde in the final two minutes sealed a game in which our team was superior (80-91, min.40).
