Scariolo: “Monaco is one of the toughest obstacles we'll have to face”

Sergio Scariolo spoke in the build-up to Real Madrid's clash with Monaco in EuroLeague Round 24 (Thursday, 8:45 pm CET). The coach discussed the upcoming game at the Movistar Arena: “For us, they're one of the toughest obstacles we'll face. We hope to be up to the task—which will be a significant one—so we can compete well and try to win it.”
“Right now, Monaco is one of the toughest two or three teams to face in the EuroLeague. I don’t think it’s about form, it's about real strength. They’re in second place and have even improved their roster. From the start, they’ve been near the top of the standings, showing solidity and a very strong level.”
“They have a lot of ball handlers, players who don’t need much structure to create a shot. They have a very good group of versatile big men. Their defensive level is very high. They’re the team that forces the most turnovers and scores the most points. It might look like a small squad, but if they stay healthy, it’s ideal for making the team work. Spanoulis has added his own touch, with that chemistry.”
