Scariolo: “I am very happy with the attitude we showed”
“It was a game where we had to give our all to win, and we did so with a very good last quarter,” added the coach after the victory against Virtus.
Sergio Scariolo analyzed the victory of Real Madrid against Virtus Bologna, in the game corresponding to round 30 of the Euroleague, held at the Movistar Arena: “They took difficult shots to defend, but overall, the second half defensively was better. We managed to limit Edwards, who was a very serious problem in the first half. These are challenging games because you come back from the international windows, hardly train, and there were players returning with problems. Additionally, psychologically, you have to win, which always complicates things, especially when a team has nothing to lose and plays like that.”

“Practically, we couldn’t train with the full team, and it’s an intense trip. It’s not the same as traveling 200 easy kilometers after playing 10 minutes, as we said earlier. Obviously, I wouldn’t have mentioned it if we had lost because it might sound like an excuse. However, it speaks to the effort of the players who worked hard to win. Without being brilliant, but with attitude and cohesion.”
Turning point of the victory
“I didn’t see it won until the end. The two consecutive three-pointers and the two consecutive defensive stops gave us that sense of calm which allowed us to handle the end of the game.”
