NEWS | 10/10/2019The Whites want another win at the WiZink Center prior to their three away games (9:00pm CEST).
Real Madrid will be away from the WiZink Center after this game in the competition (facing Zalgiris, Anadolu Efes and Bayern on the road), so today will be key as they hope to continue a strong start in the toughest Euroleague season yet and follow up the tremendous win over Fenerbahçe (81-77). The same cannot be said for Maccabi, who go into their second away game after losing away to Khimki in the first game (89-83). After visiting the WiZink Center they will have three home games. They have lost their last four games away to the Whites.
The madridistas will rely on the balance between defense and offense, something they found perfectly towards the game of the game against the Turkish side. Campazzo, Taylor and Randolph took the lead in attack but all of the current squad are capable of chipping in. Laso will have Carroll, who is back from the injury he picked up in the second league game and has yet to debut in the Euroleague. Defense and the rebound will both prove crucial, given that this team is replete with talent, especially in the paint.
Sfairopoulos's side have had a clear-out as they look to get back amongst the best. With seven American's joining the team, Maccabi have been one of the busiest franchises this summer. NBA stars Casspi and Acy, along with ex-madridista Hunter and Turkish youth prospect Avdija, and the likes of Black, mean Maccabi are one of the strongest teams on the front court.
Real Madrid also have serious offensive talent, underlined by the impressive dunk from Mickey in Tenerife. On the perimeter, The Israeli side have great one-on-one players like Wilbekin, Dorsey, Bryant, Wolters and Di Bartolomeo. Here's to another great night of European basketball.
