"The coach told me to stay calm and play like I’ve been doing lately”, said the centre-back.
Castilla defender Javi Sánchez made his official Real Madrid debut in Melilla, in the Copa del Rey last-thirty-two clash. The centre-back and academy captain was in Santiago Solari’s starting line-up at the Estadio Álvarez Claro and played the full 90 minutes.

At the end of the game, the academy graduate spoke to the press: “Ever since joining Real Madrid, my goal was to make my debut with the first team which is no mean feat. I’m focused on Castilla and I’m trying to make the most of any opportunities they give me with the first team. The coach told me to stay calm and play like I’ve been doing lately. I watch our centre-backs closely: Ramos, Varane, Nacho and Vallejo, because they’re all fantastic and I can learn a lot from them”.
