The centre-back has played 44 times for Real Madrid and 11 for the French national team.
Varane has been a key part of the French defence at the World Cup and has disputed the full 90 minutes in all six games so far at Russia 2018. He has played a total of 55 games for Real Madrid and the France national side this season, and he has been named in the starting line-up on every single occasion. Never before had he notched up so many starting berths in the same campaign.

For Real Madrid, he has been the most-used defender this term, playing 3,801 minutes across 44 games. Varane eclipses Sergio Ramos (3,730) and Marcelo (3,670). The Frenchman has not missed a single decisive clash, playing the full match in all four finals the team have this season. His importance to the Whites has been mirrored in the French national team, where he has also started all eleven games he's been involved in so far.
