Laso en rueda de prensa

Laso: “We need to keep our energy levels up against Betis”

NEWS | 17/11/2017

“They're a dangerous team on the up”, added the Whites' coach.
Pablo Laso spoke to Realmadrid TV in the build-up to his team's clash with Real Betis Energía Plus (Saturday, 7:00pm CET). The coach said: “We'll finish off the week with a visit to Betis, who have a really athletic squad, and it'll be a game we need to recover for and maintain the energy levels we showed against Unicaja Málaga”.

“It's been an intense week, with Randolph's injury thrown in, but I think the players are in good shape. We've done good recovery work and we have to be ready and focussed from the start tomorrow and demonstrate the intensity we need in a game we know is set to be very tough”.

“Betis are probably playing better than their results suggest. They were in the game against Andorra until the end of the third quarter. They're lacking the confidence that comes with winning games and in a game like tomorrow's, they're playing with much less pressure. The idea that Madrid are unbeatable and they've got nothing to lose. That's an element in their favour that we must understand”.

It's been an intense week but the players are in good shape.

“We know we're in for a difficult game against a side full of top players. With Ryan Kelly, an open player who can play as a four or under the post, Golubovic, Boungou-Colo, Schilb, Draper… They're a dangerous team on the up, and we hope tomorrow's not the day they pick up their first win”.

“He played well in the Euroleague because he excelled in every aspect of the game, not just point-scoring and moving the ball. Yesterday was one of his best matches defensively, he took lots of rebounds and passed the ball well. It was a very complete performance, in particular in how he linked up with people, players who did a great job in defense like Maciulis and Rudy. Luka stood out in PIR terms, but he also shone thanks to the work done by the team”.
