Butragueño receives the Golsmedia Lifetime Achievement Award
The Director of Institutional Relations received the award to mark the 40th anniversary of the Quinta del Buitre.
Emilio Butragueño was one of the stars of the third edition of the Golsmedia Awards, which were presented at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas (Madrid). Real Madrid Director of Institutional Relations received the Lifetime Achievement Award to mark the 40th anniversary of La Quinta del Buitre in 2023.
Butragueño, who lent his name to that unforgettable generation of footballers, made his debut with the first team on 5 February 1984 with a brace in Cádiz. He made 463 appearances for Real Madrid, scored 171 goals and won two UEFA Cups, six La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey, one La Liga Cup, four Spanish Super Cups and one Copa Iberoamericana.
World Champions
During the gala, tribute was paid to the Spanish national football team that won the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer. Eight Real Madrid players were part of that team: Athenea del Castillo, Claudia Zornoza, Rocío Gálvez, Oihane Hernández, Ivana Andrés, Misa Rodríguez, Teresa Abelleira and Olga Carmona, scorer of the goal in the final. In addition, Álvaro Arbeloa's Under-19s, Champions Cup, league and Copa del Rey winners in the 2022/23 season, were also honoured.
