Scariolo: “These victories have a lot of value for the future”
“It has been a very positive evening because we have won a game away from home,” explained the coach after the win against MoraBanc Andorra.
Sergio Scariolo analysed Real Madrid's victory at MoraBanc Andorra, their third win of the week. The coach said: "I want to congratulate MoraBanc Andorra for their performance. It confirms the level they were at in the last few games. Their additions have been very successful, especially Castañeda, who was a problem for us in the first half."
“It was a very positive evening because we managed to win an away game, which is very important for us. Also, for the fact that we were able to rest Garuba, Deck and Campazzo.”
“I was curious to see how the team without Campazzo was able to generate an advantage and I was impressed by the number of open shots we generated throughout the 40 minutes. Few of them went in, but we shot well. That's another extremely positive note. We made 20 assists at low percentages and it speaks very well of generosity and ball circulation. We could have done a bit more in rebounding, but overall it was a positive game and it's creditable that we managed to pull it off under the circumstances in which we played.”
Refereeing
“I did not protest much. It's a wrong perception. Maybe the only moment was when Tavares was flagged for a non-existent fifth foul. You certainly get angry, but I never say anything about the referees after the game. They did the best they could. You have to understand that they can make a mistake but they do the best they can, like everyone else.”
Fifth foul by Tavares
“For us it's been a detriment, it always is. He's our most decisive player. We always want him on the court to finish games if possible.”
Three wins in a week
“These are steps. It's a very long process. The improvement in winning percentages is gradual every month. The team is showing cohesion, preparing, digging in, gritting their teeth and recovering physically and mentally. This is positive. We can still improve the consistency of performance, but no team in Europe has that. We know that with such a tight calendar we have to limit the ups and downs, but they are part and parcel of the competition.”
Calendar
“These victories have a lot of value for the future. Getting them done has significant merit. It is impossible to think that you can play well in every quarter of every game.”
