Real Madrid's important win against Monaco showed why they are the best home team in the EuroLeague, with 12 wins in 13 games. Scariolo's men notched up their sixth in a row in the competition with a spectacular first half (54-31). Despite Monaco's resurgence after the break, our team managed to stay in front to win their fourth victory at the Movistar Arena in just 7 days. Campazzo (17 points, 10 assists and 28 in PIR), Lyles (20 points and 27 in PIR), Tavares (13 points, 10 rebounds and 15 in PIR), Garuba (11 points and 13 in PIR) and Hezonja (12 and 12) were the standout performers.

The Whites hit the ground running from three-point range and went on a 10-0 run with 5 points from Hezonja. The Croatian spearheaded the run and, after scoring 5 more points, together with a three-pointer from Lyles, Madrid took a 14-point lead (23-9; min. 8). However, Monaco rattled off 4 straight points to end the first quarter 23-13.

Extraordinary first half
In the second quarter, it was Garuba who seized command, after scoring 7 points in just two minutes (31-17). The Madridistas gave their opponents no chance with impeccable defence and sharp shooting in attack to increase their lead. Five points from Lyles took the score to +18 in the 16th minute. Madrid were showcasing themselves and LenAbaldeTavares and Campazzo (6 points in a minute) joined the party to round off a first half to mark 54-31.

Madrid defend their lead
The third quarter started with a three-pointer from Abalde that Mike James immediately countered with some free-throw shooting. Monaco reacted and looked to reduce the deficit, but HezonjaCampazzo and Tavares kept Madrid in front (64-44; min. 25). However, three-pointers from Theis, Strazel and Blossomgame made it 64-51 (min. 27). Campazzo and Lyles also responded from the perimeter to go into the final quarter on top (71-53).

The visitors hit 5 consecutive points at the start in a bid to mount a comeback. Led by Mirotić, who scored 7 points in 3 minutes, they managed to reduce the deficit to 9 points (75-66; min. 34). Then Campazzo popped up to take control and, with two baskets and two assists, made it 84-71 at the 36' mark. Madrid were unable to score from the free throw and Monaco carried on their efforts. But in the end, Scariolo's men succeeded in making their home dominance count to claim a big win (90-78; min. 40).
