NEWS STORY. 22/08/2023

A partner in Ukraine, Epicentr for Children organises these leisure activities for more than 200 children experiencing war.

The Real Madrid Foundation's partner in Ukraine, Epicentr for Children, has organised a summer camp for the second year running aimed at the participants of the Real Madrid Foundation's social sports schools in Ukraine, which are developed with the collaboration of Epicentr K. A leisure centre in the Kremenets area hosts more than 200 children from Irpin, Kyiv, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi.

Supported by their football and basketball coaches, local coordinators, psychologists and social workers, the camp looks to encourage psychosocial work to help build resilience to the situation in the country, which the children are suffering from emotionally.

In the leisure and educational activities, the Real Madrid Foundation's methodology Por una educación Real: valores y deporte (For a Real Education: values and sport) has been applied, focusing each day on the different values that are transmitted in the organisation's schools and social sports projects for education and social involvement.

The Real Madrid Foundation launched the campaign "All for Ukraine" in March 2022 to help meet the needs of the displaced population of Ukraine. Thanks to the connection established with Epicentr for Children and the NGO CESAL, the sustainability of the seven social sports schools that the Foundation is developing in Ukraine has been guaranteed during the 2022-23 season, through collaboration with the Madrid City Council and the funds allocated to provide humanitarian and psychosocial aid to the pupils and families at these social sports schools.

Additionally, a new school has been opened in Poland with UK SALOS of Salesian Missions, which provides integration for Ukrainian refugees in the town of Elk, enabling the Foundation to continue meeting the needs of this group, adapting its needs to each circumstance.
