Today is the 90th anniversary of Real Madrid's second LaLiga title. On the 19th of March 1933, the team mathematically clinched the trophy in the penultimate game of the campaign. The madridistas thrashed Arenas de Guecho (8-2) with a Luis Regueiro hat-trick, doubles for Olivares and Hilario and a Lazcano strike.
The season finished with Real Madrid top of the pile, having amassed 28 points, followed by Athletic in second place on 26. Olivares became the club's first ever Pichichi winner and Ricardo Zamora conceded the fewest league goals. The madridista squad was led by Firth, as they retained the title they had clinched in the previous year.
